Centris is a near-shore contact center serving a wide array of business partners in the United States. As a near-shore contact center, we are in close proximity to the U.S. with our two locations in Mexico. We shared a bit about our Monterrey location in our previous blog. We’d like to focus this writing on our second location: Aguascalientes Mexico.
A LITTLE ABOUT AGUASCALIENTES
Aguascalientes is one of the smallest states in Mexico, is located in the central part of the country and is also the name of the capital city where Centris is located. The name Aguascalientes literally means “Hot waters” which is appropriate given the many Hot Springs that are in the state.
Aguascalientes was originally a silver mining town and there is still some mining done today along with other industries such as winemaking, brandy, aguardiente, and various other fruit liquors. A large agriculture industry of chilies, corn, potatoes, garlic, onions, beans, guavas, peaches, and alfalfa supports the economy as well thanks to the temperate climate of the area. In more recent years, manufacturing has also become a significant contributor to the economy with such products as:
- Clothing
- Electronics
- Automobile parts
- Metals
- Beef and Dairy Products
The service sector is also well represented in Aguascalientes including government, trade and a booming tourism industry that makes up a large portion of the economy as well. Because of the diverse industry within the city, Aguascalientes has been recognized as having some of the best business climate standards in the world, which is one of the many reasons it was chosen as a Centris location. This business-friendly climate is a contributing factor in Aguascalientes’ reputation as one of the best places to live in Latin America.
POPULATION & DEMOGRAPHICS
The latest population figures of Aguascalientes metropolitan area are just under 1 million at 932,369. As mentioned above, Aguascalientes is considered one of the most business-friendly cities in the world attracting major companies such as:
- Texas Instruments
- Nissan
- Softtek
- Sensata Technologies
- Flextronics
- FANUC Robotics
These companies have done much to contribute to the overall economy as well as the diversity of the city. The large Nissan manufacturing plant has attracted a large Japanese population. Other countries represented in Aguascalientes are the U.S., Spain, France, Germany, Sweden, and Brazil.
In addition to a friendly business environment, Aguascalientes offers much in the way of outdoor activities, culture, restaurants and more.
One of our favorite aspects of onboarding new clients is providing them the opportunity to visit both of our Centris locations in Monterrey and here in Aguascalientes. Many are surprised to find this little-hidden gem in the central part of Mexico. In fact, one might say that Aguascalientes is Mexico’s best-kept secret! We would have to agree!
