Monterrey Mexico

Over the past year, we have shared a lot of industry-specific information on our blog. As we end this calendar year of 2018, we’d like to finish on a slightly different note. Centris is a near-shore contact center offering customer support to a wide variety of industries. Our “near-shore” status means that we are located in close proximity to the United States in the country of Mexico. We have two locations in Mexico: Aguascalientes and Monterrey.

LIFE IN MONTERREY

Our two locations provide superior customer service to all of our clients in the United States. However, for this blog we would like to focus our attention on the city of Monterrey.

Monterrey is the Capital city of the northeastern state of Nuevo Leon, Mexico and is the ninth largest city in Mexico. In 2017, the GDP of Monterrey was estimated to be $142 billion, making Monterrey the wealthiest city in Mexico. In fact, Monterrey is home to more billionaires than anywhere else and is also Mexico’s most developed city. Many say that Monterrey is the most Americanized of all the cities in Mexico. Our Centris staff would certainly agree with that statement. In fact, many Centris employees have spent many years in the United States and speak excellent English and Spanish. This is one of the many advantages our business brings to the table when it comes to serving the American marketplace.

CORPORATE MONTERREY

In addition to Centris, there are many other global corporations that have made a home in Monterrey. Monterrey is considered the technology hub of Mexico, as the list below illustrates.

  • Sony
  • Toshiba
  • Whirlpool
  • Samsung
  • Toyota
  • Nokia
  • Dell
  • Boeing
  • General Electric
  • Johnson Controls
  • LG
  • British American Tobacco
  • Cuauhtémoc Moctezuma Brewery

As you can no doubt see, there is a very diverse corporate culture in Monterrey offering a highly skilled workforce.

EDUCATION

With such a strong corporate culture, it would only stand to reason that Monterrey is a well-educated city. Monterrey is home to twelve (12) different Universities. Each University offers a different area of study from technology to design and everything in between. However, what is interesting to note about each University listed is the high Student Satisfaction ranking that each has received.

POPULATION DEMOGRAPHICS

The general population of Monterrey proper is well over 1 million residents, while the immediate area around Monterrey includes another 1 million. However, more than half of those numbers fall into the 15-59 age group. This means that the population is generally quite young which is an attractive quality for businesses looking to establish a corporate office in the city. With a demographic that skews young, is increasingly well educated, highly skilled and bilingual, it is safe to predict that Monterrey will continue to be a hub for global industry. Opportunities to expand business in Monterrey are readily available and have proven to be highly successful. Wages are lower than in the US but the work force is equally skilled for a wide variety of jobs.

Monterrey Mexico has much to offer; education, business opportunity, wealth, culture and history. Centris is proud to play a role in the success of this cosmopolitan city.
